The weather is nice, I got some work done, I cuddled a puppy, and I read a Misty Copeland autobiography (Happy Black History Month) to some youths. All of these things are making me feel good and positive. So here are a few of my favorite things… about living in Las Vegas.
- Seeing the mountains everyday.
- Laughing at how much money tourists spend.
- 99 Cent Stores that prevent this desert from being a food desert.
- Going to Market in the Alley on the third Sunday of every month.
- Special shoutout to artist Abbie Paulhaus who made the Option C poster.
- Accidentally staying out until 3 a.m. because do the clubs ever close?
- True story: one Saturday at 7:30 p.m. my roommate asked me if I wanted to see the Backstreet Boys. At 1 a.m. we were at nightclub on the Strip at an after party hosted by three of the five Backstreet Boys.
- Ending any night out in my own back.
- The prevalence of taquerias. I live within a mile of at least three. Blest.
- My favorite parks/outdoor attractions:
- Lake Mead National Park
- Sunset Park
- Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary
- Clark County Wetlands
- Las Vegas Farm
- 50 degree snow days (yes, that really happened last week)
- McCarran Airport has a Jamba Juice in both terminals
- I can play tourist any time of day, any day of the week. Here are some of my favorite tourist spots
- The Mob Museum
- The High Roller
- The Bellagio Fountains
- The Linq Promenade
That’s it for my top ten. What are your favorite things about your town or city? Let me know in the comments below!
